What is Posit?

Posit, previously RStudio, is a software company that develops open-source packages and software, and enterprise-ready professional products for teams who use both R and Python, to scale and share their work.

Posit’s mission is to create free and open-source software for data science, scientific research, and technical communication. We do this to enhance the production and consumption of knowledge by everyone, regardless of economic means.

Posit’s open-source software and commercial software form a virtuous cycle: The adoption of open-source data science software at scale in organizations creates demand for posit’s commercial software; and the revenue from commercial software, in turn, enables deeper investment in the open-source software that benefits everyone.

Commitment

Posit believes that corporations should be run for the benefit of all of their stakeholders including employees, customers, and the community at large. Consequently, Posit is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) and a Certified B Corporation®.
